POSITION TITLE: General Worker (30 Positions)
DEPARTMENT: Electrical Engineering Works
DURATION: 15 September 2025 – 26 September 2025 (Fixed Term Contract)
LEVEL: L2
REPORT TO: Supervisor
LOCATION: Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
REFERENCE: TBA

Job Purpose

• To assist RNC Construction teams during maintenance and construction works in Overhead Track Equipment (OHTE).
• To ensure work is completed effectively and efficiently by performing general worker duties.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies Required

• Minimum Grade 9 and/or 6 months relevant experience.
• Physically fit (must undergo medical examination and be declared fit for duty).
• Alert and safety-conscious.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Able to work under adverse weather conditions.
• Prepared to work extended hours on short notice.
• Willing to relocate or work outside the designated depot.
• Able to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Health and safety conscious.
• Prepared to work in noisy environments.

Key Accountabilities

• Carry out all tasks as assigned by the Supervisor/Team Leader.
• Be punctual and maintain sober habits.
• Handle, load, and offload materials.
• Clean sites by removing weeds, stacking materials, sweeping floors, and disposing of excess/rubble materials.
• Use non-mechanized hand tools in a construction environment.
• Care for and clean tools.
• Carry and erect 12m extension ladders.
