Position Overview

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Grade 10 qualification
  • Must be bilingual and able to understand English
  • Must reside within the jurisdiction of Midvaal Local Municipality
  • Ability to follow and execute instructions effectively
  • Must be in excellent physical health with basic skills and understanding of the work environment
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work under varying weather conditions
  • Must meet all operational requirements of the position
  • Must be hard-working and self-disciplined
  • Must have 0–1 year experience as a general worker, labourer, or in labour-intensive duties within parks and recreation
  • Must be unemployed

Key Duties and Responsibilities

This is a labour-intensive role. Successful applicants will be required to:

  • Load and off-load materials, tools, and equipment used for daily tasks
  • Use provided personal protective equipment and employer-issued tools
  • Place traffic signs to warn road users about work conducted near municipal roads
  • Clean and maintain designated working areas using manual labour equipment and tools
  • Operate garden tools (manual and electrical), including:
    • Grass cutting
    • Tending flower beds
    • Sweeping
    • Raking
    • Brush cutting and related maintenance work
  • Execute all lawful instructions issued by supervisors to ensure productivity
  • Perform additional ad hoc duties as requested by management or supervisors from time to time

  • CVs submitted in unsupported formats
  • CVs lacking detailed employment history, including job titles, duties, duration, employer details, and references
  • Applications that list Midvaal as employer without proper job descriptions or details

Preference will be given to unemployed applicants. Applicants currently on contract will only be considered if their contract ends within three months or less.
