The Ulco Cement Operation has a vacancy for:
- Production Team Leader (H7) – Replacement
Reporting to the Packing and Despatch Manager, the incumbent will form part of the Packing and Despatch Department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Manage the execution of production activities to meet planned production and product quality targets
- Supervises appropriate plant inspections in line with maintenance philosophy and authorise assigned maintenance schedules and breakdown repairs when on shift.
- Ensures that all production information are accurately recorded and maintained.
- Manage people to achieve high levels of competence, retention, consequences for good or poor performance, attendance, disciplinary, teamwork and alignment with organisational values, objectives and targets.
- Ensures that work execution is done in accordance with company policy, procedures, work instructions and risk management systems standards, eg. lock-out procedure.
- Initiate, lead and execute cost saving initiatives and production rate improvement programmes. Could also be expected to participate in learner development programmes.
Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience required:
- Grade 12
- Preferred qualification of N5 with a recognized trade qualification, together with 3 years’ experience in a heavy industry (experience in a cement plant will be advantageous).
- N4 with a recognized trade qualification, with 5 years of cement production experience.
- N3 with a recognized trade qualification, with 8 years cement production experience inclusive of the Learnership period.
- Recognized trade qualification, with 10 years’ cement production experience inclusive of the Learnership period.
- Must have experience in managing people.
- Must have experience in maintenance system and implementation of strategies.
- Sound understanding of operation maintenance and production strategies.
- Strong understanding of production systems, ME frameworks, and KPI tracking
- Ability to interpret and act on verified ME & KPI data.
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental risks identification and statutory requirements and management.
- Advanced planning and organising skills.
- Sound computer skills and Ms Office skills.
- Valid code B driver’s licence.
