Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinic Packer within our Stanza Bopape: Pretoria East Mobile 1-5 Business Unit. In this permanent role, you will play a pivotal part in the seamless operation of our mobile blood donation clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for meticulously preparing, controlling, and packing clinic supplies, including boxes, hampers, and essential equipment. This ensures that every clinic is fully equipped according to its size and specific requirements, as outlined in our standardized checklists.

Beyond packing, the role involves proactive management of equipment maintenance. You will arrange for repairs, replacements, routine validations, and ongoing maintenance to guarantee that all items are in optimal condition. Key Responsibilities

As a Clinic Packer, your daily tasks will be varied and essential to the success of our mobile clinics. You will ensure that all preparations are completed with precision and efficiency, minimizing disruptions and maximizing the effectiveness of our blood donation drives. The key performance areas include:

1. Preparation, Control, and Packing of Clinic Supplies
  • Accurately assess the size and requirements of each upcoming clinic to determine the appropriate quantity and type of supplies needed.
  • Follow detailed checklists to pack boxes, hampers, and equipment, ensuring nothing is overlooked—from medical consumables to promotional materials.
  • Maintain strict inventory control to track supplies, prevent shortages, and optimize resource usage.
  • Coordinate with team members to verify that all packed items align with clinic-specific needs, such as donor capacity or location constraints.
2. Equipment Management and Quality Assurance
  • Pack equipment into designated boxes or hampers, ensuring items are securely stored to prevent damage during transport.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to confirm that all equipment is clean, functional, and in excellent working order before packing.
  • Identify any issues with equipment promptly and initiate processes for repair, replacement, or validation as per SANBS protocols.
  • Schedule and oversee routine maintenance activities to extend the lifespan of equipment and comply with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers or internal maintenance teams to resolve technical problems efficiently.
3. Administrative and Clerical Duties
  • Handle administrative tasks such as updating packing logs, inventory records, and maintenance schedules in our digital systems.
  • Generate reports on supply usage, equipment status, and any discrepancies encountered during preparations.
  • Assist in clerical functions like labeling, organizing documentation, and preparing manifests for transportation.
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurate and filed appropriately to support audits and compliance requirements.

Job-Specific Requirements

This role demands physical stamina and flexibility to adapt to the demands of a mobile operation. Key requirements include:

  • Work Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime within prescribed limits and conditions, as well as shift work when required to align with clinic timings, which may include evenings or weekends.
  • Physical Demands: The incumbent must be prepared to stand for extended periods during packing and loading activities. You will need to carry loads weighing up to 14kg regularly, assist with the loading and off-loading of vehicles, and climb stairs as needed in various clinic setups.
  • Mobility and Safety: Ability to work in a mobile environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols at all times.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following essential criteria:

  • Education: A Grade 12 certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
  • Driver’s License: A valid Code 08 driver’s license, allowing you to operate standard vehicles as needed for clinic support.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of driving experience, demonstrating safe and responsible road habits.

Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or a healthcare-related packing role would be advantageous but is not mandatory. SANBS provides comprehensive training to equip you with the specific knowledge needed for success.
