Purpose of the Job

This role involves operating a soup truck to deliver high-quality soups to various locations while ensuring timely and safe deliveries. The position requires enthusiasm for food, skilled driving, and a commitment to excellent customer service to engage positively with the community.

Key Responsibilities
Driving and Delivery
  • Operate the soup truck safely and efficiently to deliver soups to designated locations.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Comply with all food safety and transport regulations during deliveries.
Customer Service
  • Engage with customers at delivery points, providing information about the soups and ensuring a positive interaction.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Truck Maintenance
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck is in good working condition.
  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance and promptly report any issues to management.
Inventory Management
  • Assist in loading and unloading food supplies and inventory before and after routes.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report any discrepancies.
Safety Compliance
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of food products during transport.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Minimum Grade 10 equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a driver or in food delivery is preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Safe Driving Skills: Proficient in operating various vehicles with a clean driving record.
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills to engage positively with customers.
  • Time Management: Ability to plan routes and manage delivery schedules efficiently.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Basic Math Skills: Competence in handling cash transactions and maintaining inventory records.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to work cooperatively with kitchen staff and management.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in following delivery protocols and ensuring food quality.
Experience
  • Driving Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in food service or delivery roles.
  • Food Industry Experience: Prior experience in food service, particularly in delivery, catering, or food truck operations, is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain standing for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in varying weather conditions.
Additional Notes
  • Candidates must be willing to work on weekends when required.
  • Drivers will be placed in one of the following locations: Alexandra, Protea Glen, or Mpumalanga.
