The Administration Clerk: DCRS position is suitable for applicants who have completed Grade 12 and are interested in administrative work within the court environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating digital court recording equipment and providing administrative support connected to court proceedings and case flow management.
No previous experience is required for appointment to the position. However, applicants with at least one year of experience in court recordings, exposure to court-related functions, or a valid driver’s licence will have additional relevant experience or qualifications for consideration.
Requirements
Applicants must have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification at NQF Level 4, recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
No experience is required.
The following will serve as an added advantage:
- At least one year of experience in court recordings
- Exposure to court-related functions

Applicants should have knowledge of the digital recording process, including the ability to conduct system tests and operate a Digital Court Recording System (DCRS) or Court Recording Technology (CRT) machine.

Duties
The successful candidate will perform a range of recording and administrative responsibilities.
Before court proceedings begin, the official will test and operate the required recording equipment to ensure that it is functioning correctly. During court proceedings, digital recordings must be made accurately, with the integrity of the recordings maintained.
The position also includes providing administrative support at circuit courts. The successful candidate will assist with the collection of statistics and provide general administrative support relating to court performance and case flow management.

Duties
The Data Capturer will be responsible for capturing information from available records into the required systems and formats. This may include databases, tables and spreadsheets.
The successful candidate will check captured information and identify missing data or errors during data entry. Records must be reviewed and validated to ensure that the information is accurate and complete.
Other responsibilities include submitting captured data and making regular backups. Registers and statistics must be updated, while records and files must be maintained in an organised and secure manner.
The successful candidate will also provide information and support to various components within the court environment.
Duties include assisting verification personnel by making required data sources and files available, collecting correspondence from the general office and distributing files and correspondence to Registrars.
The employee may also be required to send and receive emails when requested and immediately report IT-related problems to the supervisor.
Additional responsibilities include opening files, sorting incoming data for capturing and distributing the work equally. Case records and court documents used for data capturing must be kept safely while in the employee’s possession.
The position may also involve responding to attorneys’ queries concerning quasi-judicial matters, reviewing and validating information contained in files, and updating registers and statistics.
Other administrative support may be required by the Judiciary, Court Manager or Supervisor.
