About SE Holdings Agro-Processing

SE Holdings is a South African agribusiness and farmer-development company. The agro-processing business is establishing a new bean cleaning facility designed to receive dry beans from farmers, clean and grade the beans, pack the finished products and deliver them to food manufacturing customers.

The facility is being developed as a disciplined, food-safe and fully traceable operation. Employees are expected to take responsibility for following established procedures and maintaining high standards across the facility.

The Security Officer will play an important role in maintaining a safe and secure working environment. The position requires someone who can remain alert throughout long shifts, follow security procedures and respond appropriately to incidents or suspicious activities.

Purpose of the Security Officer Position

The purpose of the Security Officer role is to protect the bean cleaning facility, its employees, visitors, stock and equipment.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for controlling vehicle and pedestrian access to the site. This includes checking people and vehicles entering and leaving the facility, recording relevant information and ensuring that site access rules are followed.

Because the facility will receive deliveries from farmers and handle customer dispatches, careful monitoring of vehicles, delivery documents and loads will be an important part of the position.

Key Responsibilities

The appointed Security Officer will be responsible for a range of security and access-control duties.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Controlling access at the facility gate for staff, visitors, contractors, farmers’ delivery vehicles and customer trucks.
  • Checking and recording incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Checking delivery notes, weighbridge slips and dispatch documents against loads.
  • Searching vehicles and persons in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conducting regular security patrols of the premises.
  • Patrolling the perimeter, warehouses and yard.
  • Keeping the occurrence book up to date.
  • Maintaining accurate visitor and key registers.
  • Monitoring CCTV and alarm systems where these systems are installed.
  • Responding appropriately to security alarms.
  • Reporting theft, damage and suspicious activities immediately.
  • Reporting fire risks and safety incidents to the appropriate person.
  • Enforcing site rules applicable to visitors, drivers, contractors and employees.
  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene requirements and PPE rules.
  • Enforcing no-smoking rules on the site.
  • Maintaining a visible security presence throughout the facility.
  • Following all applicable security procedures and instructions.

The role requires attention to detail because security records, vehicle movements and access information must be accurately captured. Security Officers will also need to communicate clearly when reporting incidents or irregularities.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the position:

Valid PSIRA Registration
  • A valid PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher is required and must be in good standing.
  • A copy of the valid PSIRA registration certificate must be included with the application.
  • Applications submitted without the required PSIRA registration certificate will not be considered.
Grade 12
  • Applicants must have Grade 12 (Matric).

The qualification will support the administrative and reporting aspects of the role, including completing registers and preparing incident reports.

Security Experience

At least two years of relevant security experience is required.

Experience in any of the following environments will be relevant:

  • Industrial sites
  • Warehouses
  • Agricultural facilities
  • Access-control environments

Applicants should be comfortable working in an environment where vehicle movements, deliveries, stock and site access need to be monitored carefully.

Written English

Good written English is required because the Security Officer will need to complete security registers, occurrence books and incident reports.
