Packer Job Responsibilities
The Packer will be responsible for various activities associated with packaging finished products. Accuracy, safety, product quality and adherence to established procedures are important aspects of the position.
Packaging Operations
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Pack finished products according to approved Manufacturing Orders and packaging instructions.
- Confirm that the correct product is being packed before starting the packing process.
- Check that the correct packaging materials are being used.
- Ensure that the correct bag size is selected.
- Verify that the appropriate labels are used for each product.
- Check that bag labels correspond with the Manufacturing Order and product specifications.
- Weigh and fill bags accurately within the required tolerances.
- Stack finished products according to standard palletising requirements.
- Secure and wrap pallets as required.
- Complete other reasonable duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor or management.
The role requires a high level of attention to detail because incorrect product identification, labelling, weighing or packaging could result in product mix-ups and quality problems.
Continuous Improvement
The Packer will also contribute to continuous improvement within the production environment.
Employees are expected to identify and communicate deviations in existing processes, techniques or systems. Potential opportunities to improve operational processes, tools and systems should be brought to the attention of the supervisor.

The employee must also ensure that product information is correctly checked before products leave the packaging process.

- Product codes
- Batch numbers

- Expiry dates

Good Housekeeping
