DRIVER / MESSENGER
A vacancy exists for a Driver in the Facilities and Fleet Unit, reporting to the Facilities and Fleet Manager at the Head Office in Sandton. If you possess the required skills and experience, we invite you to apply.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for handling effective and safe logistics for people, business documentation, postal mail, materials, and goods as per business requirements.

KEY OUTPUTS
Perform Deliveries/Collections and Drive Staff

  • Transport Board Members, Executives, Staff, and SA Tourism guests for work-related purposes, including meetings, events, and to/from Gautrain station, airport, and/or hotel accommodation.
  • Collect work-related parcels, ensuring they are handed to the correct recipient at SA Tourism.
  • Collect in-house vending machine consumables, record purchases, and submit proof to Finance.

Messenger Duties

  • Effectively and safely collect, deliver, and transport mail, documents, materials, and goods as required within the area of accountability.
  • Maintain messenger records of daily visits in the logbook and file all signed-off delivery/collection or Driver request forms.

Administration

  • Handle routine and ad-hoc administrative tasks relevant to the execution of the function.
  • Maintain the filing system for request forms 100% correctly; all documents must be available upon request.
  • Assist with office duties such as filing, copying, and printing of documents.
  • Record daily fuel card purchases, toll-gate expenses, and other vehicle documents.

Handyman Duties

  • Carry out handyman duties as per specifications (minor building wear-and-tear maintenance).
  • Move furniture or brand & marketing equipment as requested.
  • Contribute to Health and Safety around the building.
  • Assist with Asset Verification.

Documents Distribution

  • Assist with document binding, distribution, and/or delivery to meeting venues.
  • Distribute traffic infringement notices and documents received via mail.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Code B Driver’s license; Advanced Driver skill certificate (advantageous).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Driver (essential).
  • Exposure to building maintenance/handyman functions.
  • Ability to perform routine clerical work such as filing, sorting, and record-keeping.

PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
An exciting opportunity exists for a Public Relations and Communications Coordinator in the Brand and Marketing Business Unit at South African Tourism’s Head Office in Sandton. This position reports to the Corporate and Internal Communications Manager. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Support the Corporate and Internal Communications Manager in delivering communication to all staff through various channels, ensuring ease of access, clarity, and consistent messaging.
  • Assist in developing tactical internal communications campaigns.
  • Contribute to the editorial team to produce a monthly newsletter for SA Tourism staff and tourism trade members.
  • Ensure the Intranet provides the most updated information.
  • Support and coordinate writing for publications, promotional materials, website content, newsletters, and the annual report.
  • Collaborate with the agency on weekly status reports.
  • Support the management of PR and media events and media hustings.
  • Assist with departmental travel and other administrative duties.
  • Monitor the organisation’s internal communication programme to ensure stakeholders (Head Office and International) are informed of organisational news, issues, and direction, with mechanisms for feedback to management.
  • Support monitoring of media coverage related to South African Tourism and the broader tourism sector.
  • Work with the agency to keep the media database relevant.
  • Coordinate all media interview requests received via the media queries portal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • National Diploma in Communications, Public Relations/Brand Communications, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • 2–3 years’ relevant experience in Public Relations/Communications or a related field.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, and media environments.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Digital Public Relations (PR) skills (advantageous).
  • Tourism experience (advantageous).

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF

  • The PFMA and regulations, and other relevant legislation (e.g., National Strategic Intelligence Act, National Archives of South Africa Act, Promotion of Access to Information Act).
  • Government priorities and imperatives.
  • Performance monitoring, evaluation, and reporting frameworks, systems, and processes.
  • Communications and information management legislative requirements.
