Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of HR Officer within the Human Resources Department. The position reports to the HR and Services Manager.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting the overall HR plans to enable the achievement of business objectives.
Key Performance Areas
- Work with employees and First Line Managers (FLMs) to ensure adherence to minimum standards across the employee life cycle (hire to retire).
- Ensure accurate data to support talent analysis, succession development, and retention within the business unit.
- Ensure talent review data is updated as required.
- Provide recruitment and onboarding support for appointments within the business unit.
- Administer employee engagement surveys and support related action plans.
- Provide support during employee exits within the business unit.
- Support the improvement of labour productivity (e.g. overtime management, leave, allowances).
- Support effective localisation and diversity initiatives.
- Adhere to HR functional excellence and minimum standards.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements.
- Provide first-level HR query resolution relating to payroll, benefits, organisational structures, time and attendance, and policies, escalating matters to the HR and Services Manager when required.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management.
- Support Learning and Development (L&D) in identifying training needs and individual coaching requirements, and follow up to ensure objectives are met.
- Support change management initiatives within the business unit.
- Work with line management and HR Services to ensure HR systems (e.g. organograms) and employee master data are kept up to date.
- Support employee well-being through the implementation and evaluation of initiatives.
- Provide advice and guidance on employee misconduct and poor performance, ensuring compliance with best practice and relevant employment legislation.
- Ensure accurate capturing, management, and maintenance of HR information.
- Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).
Minimum Specifications / Requirements
- Degree in Business, Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years’ experience within HR in a similar role.
- Demonstrable track record and relevant experience at a similar level.
