DEPARTMENTAL MISSION
To be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and management of the Occupational Health Program, and that Occupational Hygiene, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall implementation of Strategies aimed at minimizing occupational with a Terminal objective being the cost health risks effective protection of people’s lives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- B Tech in Occupational health
- Diploma in General Nursing, Psychiatry, Community nursing and Midwifery
- Valid Driver’s license
- Certificate in Primary Health Care and Family Planning will be a plus
- Current registration with South African Nursing Council with the Occupational health registered as an additional qualification
- Indemnity and current registration with SASOHN
- Certificate in Audiometry and Spirometry is a must
- Registration with SASOHN as an Audiometrist
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years’ experience in occupational health
ADDED ADVANTAGE
- Dispensing license
- Certificate in HIV/AIDS counselling and testing
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAs)
- Health risk analysis
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Compliance with all applicable legislation within the scope of occupational health
- Accurate document and records management to ensure confidentiality, continuity, accessibility, legibility
- Compliance with Metrorail/PRASA policies and procedures
- Compliance to the relevant legislations that are in line with Rail requirements
- Analysis and monitoring of occupational health exposure trends and development of recommendations to reduce control such exposures.
- Involvement in design and implementation of health promotion activities including Health Awareness Days, Management of
IOD’s and strategies to minimize claims, Depot visits - Participate in Internal and external Audits
- Medical surveillance – Pre-employment, Periodic, exit medicals., Post incident medicals, transfer
- Refer all Primary Health Care to the hospital or local clinic
- Have knowledge on HIV/AIDS and chronic illness management including follow-up, counselling, ARV dispensing/arrangement, etc
