Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma in Safety Management (Essential)
- 2–3 years of experience in safety operations within heavy industry, mining, or production environments (Essential)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating safety standards and practices to support safe outcomes aligned with business strategy.
- Act as an appointee under Section 7(4) and Regulation 2.17.1 of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and business unit (BU) requirements.
- Manage risks through liability assessments, reporting, monitoring standards, and addressing issues.
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) and address unsafe practices promptly.
- Implement and maintain an audit structure, conducting internal and external safety and environmental audits.
- Compile monthly statistical and legal reports.
- Ensure compliance with ISO/OHSAS standards (Management of Change).
- Maintain good customer relationships, respond to queries per Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and address complaints per service management policies.
- Mentor and coach SHE representatives and influence BU safety culture through Visible Felt Leadership (VFL).
- Manage contractors for quality assurance and ensure compliance with training and PPE requirements.
- Facilitate HIRA processes, conduct legislative inspections, and investigate incidents as per CSO instructions.
- Promote health, safety, and good housekeeping practices.
- Provide specialist safety training and ad-hoc training as required.
