The Appointee should:
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye-Stillwater Occupational Health Centre
- Successfully undergo a security screening and clearance
- Be in possession of a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a vehicle
- Be in possession of a firearm competency certificate issued by the SAPS
- Have at least 4 years’ experience in a in a high-risk security environment
- Be medically fit to work in the specific business area
- Have a Grade C registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
- Be in possession of a NQF 2 (Grade 10)
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Be advantageous in a possession of NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults)
- Be advantageous in a possession of crowd control management, tactical firearm, defence and restrain techniques , advance driving skills certificate/s and Certified competent in the handling and use of a handgun, shotgun, selfloading rifle or carbine for business purposes
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrolling and Guarding
- Ensure that Sibanye Stillwater assets at the various operations are adequately protected through access control, guarding, observation and patrolling.
- Inspect buildings and other infra structure, ensuring that it is secure, taking the steps reasonably required to address risks so identified.
- Ensure that access to Sibanye-Stillwater premises is granted only to legitimate employees, contractors and visitors through the execution of Access Control Procedures, ensuring the verification of identity and employee status
- The execution of random and dedicated Patrols on foot or vehicle as applicable and required in terms of risk areas.
- Protecting the Sibanye-Stillwater employees and visitors on site through the execution of applicable protocols and procedures developed to keep employees safe.
- Part-takes in crowd facilitation when required, providing first line reaction when crime takes place.
- Access Control
- Provide a customer friendly, attentive, and reassuring, professional security presence.
- Control the entrance of people and vehicles into Sibanye Stillwater premises in terms of the approved access control procedures.
- Conduct the appropriate searches as per approved procedures upon access and egress of people and vehicles
- Reporting and Administration
- Report any suspicious behaviours and any potential problem areas to Supervisor and request back-up when necessary. • Report and record all observations, Actions crime and security incidents on the SPS Crime Administration system (CiMMS).
- Stakeholder Relations
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.

Minimum Required Qualification:
- Level 4: Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) and National Cert level 4 Certificate GET Services
The Appointee should:
- NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults)
- At least 1 years’ experience in a Security related role in a mining environment.
- Firearm Competency
- Clear security screening record.
- Grade C Certificate (PSIRA)
Advantageous Qualifications:
- NQF 5 Higher Certificate in Security or Law would be advantageous
Additional Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:
- Receives instruction and details of an underground/ surface assignment to apprehend illegal miners / criminals collects all available information from relevant sources, collects all required equipment e.g. weapons, radios, handcuffs and proceeds with the team to the occupied areas.
- Reacts on provided information by locating, categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events in order to apprehend the offenders. Collects information from any crime scene.
- Attends and participates in planning meetings by providing required information based on acquired knowledge and experience.
- Conducts underground / surface operations on information received as per security response procedure.
- Interprets the meaning of Information for others by translating or explaining what the information means and how it can be used.
- Escorts perpetrators to the Police Station. Follows up and reports on all information received following the interview. Sources and liaises with informers.
- Assists with disruptive operations as required which include shaft, plant and walkway searches, cash and VIP escorts and crowd facilitation.
- Testifies in court when required based on operational knowledge and experience.
- Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his work
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships by developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time
- Utilises knowledge and experience to solve problems during a working day by handling problems as they arise in an individual or team context
