Department of Technical Services
1. Divisional Head: Operation & Maintenance
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree/BTech in Water Care, Civil Engineering, Community Water & Sanitation or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5 years total, 3 years in a technician position. Project management certificate is a plus.
  • Salary: R597,279 per annum
  • Responsibilities: Manage rural water operations and maintenance, staff management, budgeting, reporting, quality control, compliance with water legislation.
2. Engineering Technician (Rebone Satellite)
  • Qualifications: Grade 12 + Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Experience: 2-3 years in roads and stormwater. Project management and municipal background advantageous.
  • Salary: R540,855 – R582,615 per annum
  • Duties: Road inspections, maintenance planning, supervision of crews and contractors, compliance monitoring.
3. Superintendent (Rebone Satellite)
  • Qualifications: N6 in Civil Engineering + trade test certificate, Code B driver’s license
  • Experience: 1-2 years in roads and stormwater background encouraged.
  • Salary: R466,137 – R514,695 per annum
  • Duties: Staff supervision, maintenance plans implementation, community liaison, quality control.
4. Artisan (Rebone Satellite)
  • Qualifications: N5 in Civil Engineering + trade test certificate, Code B driver’s license
  • Experience: 1 year in roads and stormwater.
  • Salary: R411,681 – R454,716 per annum
  • Duties: Pothole patching, surface repairs, stormwater channel maintenance.
5. Heavy Plant Operator (4 posts)
  • Qualifications: Grade 8 + operator’s certificate (e.g., TLB, grader, excavator), Code C1 driver’s license
  • Experience: 9-12 months
  • Salary: R253,599 – R284,058 per annum
  • Duties: Operate heavy machinery for earthmoving, construction, and landscaping.
6. Driver (5 posts)
  • Qualifications: Grade 10 + valid driver’s license Code EC/14 plus PDP
  • Experience: 6-12 months
  • Salary: R178,491 – R196,389 per annum
  • Duties: Drive vehicles, transport equipment, ensure safety on site.

  • Qualifications: Grade 8, able to read and write
  • Salary: R145,092 per annum
  • Duties: Manual labor tasks such as trench digging, road patching.

12. Superintendent

Duties:

  • Supervise staff within the section
  • Implement maintenance plans for road and stormwater infrastructure
  • Liaise with communities to evaluate their needs
  • Control the quality of work done

Requirements:

  • N6 in Civil Engineering plus trade test certificate
  • 1-2 years’ experience in roads and stormwater
  • Project management and municipal background (added advantage)
  • Code B driver’s license
  • Salary Scale: R466,137 – R514,695 per annum
13. Engineering Technician – Water and Sanitation
  • Requirements:
  • Grade 12 + Diploma in Civil Engineering / Water Care
  • 2-3 years’ experience in water treatment
  • Project management and municipal background is an added advantage
  • Salary: R540,855 – R582,615 per annum
14. Plant Operator (3 posts)
  • Requirements:
  • N3 in Waste Water Treatment + Operator’s certificate
  • 9-12 months relevant experience
  • Salary: R253,599 – R284,058 per annum

15. Committee Clerk
  • Qualifications: Grade 12 + Secretarial Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 1 year relevant experience
  • Salary: R289,953 – R329,895 per annum
  • Duties: Business administration, agenda/minutes compilation, filing, liaison with councillors.
16. Messenger
  • Qualifications: Grade 10 + valid driver’s license Code C1
  • Experience: 6-12 months
  • Salary: R145,092 – R148,902 per annum
  • Duties: Messenger duties including hand delivery/driving, maintenance of vehicles.
