Communication and Media Liaison Officer

Boxing South Africa seeks the services of a Communication and Media Liaison Officer to be responsible for the communication and media liaison of the entity. The purpose of the role is to manage, enhance, maintain, and analyze Boxing SA’s media presence across the country and the globe, and influence new media spaces to grow the landscape of boxing. The role also entails raising positive awareness about Boxing SA and influencing opinions and driving the positive narrative across the country.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate must be in possession of a relevant 3-year National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Marketing and Communication or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Marketing and Communications Officer in the Sport, Arts, and Culture sector.
  • Excellent written communication skills in writing social media and reviewing content drafted by others.
  • Solutions-focused and able to find quick and sensible solutions to problem-solving while working under pressure.
  • Must be able to adapt to flexible hours and travel to locations for boxing events. This should be a must more than a willingness.
  • Creatively and able to come up with communication strategies and tactics.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities:
Media Relations:

  • Act as BSA’s Spokesperson and Media Liaison Officer.
  • Provide Communication and Media advice to the CEO and Leadership of Boxing South Africa.
  • Push vigorous and meaningful media placements and pitch positive BSA stories, ensuring on-brand marketing and correspondence to media houses and the public.
  • Coordinate the overall communication and promotion of BSA’s events and campaigns timeously to various media houses.
  • Organize media events and activities such as press conferences, media briefings, interviews for Boxing SA.
  • Oversee management of social media platforms and ensure the website is updated consistently with relevant information.
  • Find and manage relevant advertising opportunities that are in line with Boxing SA’s objectives.
  • Influence perceptions of targeted stakeholders and enhance the image of Boxing South Africa.

Project Management:

  • Plan, support, manage, and implement the delivery of quality, professional, consistent, and efficient media relations and operations at BSA’s centralized and decentralized events.
  • Formulation of communication strategy and implementation of communication programs.
  • Lead public relations drive, setting up Media Conferences and events.
  • On-site event time role will include overseeing the delivery of all media operations and being the main contact to broadcasters, media, stakeholders, partners, local entities, and external suppliers in relation to media relations and media promotions.
  • Organize regular engagements between leadership and employees to promote and maintain effective and collaborative relationships.
  • Facilitate identification and institutionalized Corporate Social Investment program.
  • Photographer of the BSA events.

Personal Skills:

  • Experience in writing briefs for internal and external stakeholders.
  • People management skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to provide support services across Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Communication Units, assisting with administrative, logistical, and operational duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • SCM Administrative support.
  • Creditors and Finance support.
  • Fleet Management support.
  • Branding inventory and logistics.
  • General office Administration.

Key Responsibilities:
The purpose of this post is to collect, verify, and capture information to an electronic system, assisting with administrative, logistical, and operational duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Manage and update licensee’s records.
  • Verification of licensing of licensees.
  • Collection of data and manage the database.
  • Provide assistance in preparing tournament payment schedule.
  • Provide secretariat support to the Medical Advisory Committee.
  • General Office Administration.
