Essential skills include computer literacy, strong interpersonal communication, and the flexibility to work six-hour shifts on a rotation basis between 08:00 and 22:00 from Monday to Thursday, and 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays. Key Responsibilities
Circulation / Loan Services
- Check-out and check-in of information resources
- Process renewal of borrowed materials
- Handle payment of fines
- Manage hold requests for library materials
Information Services
- Respond to basic queries from library users
- Refer advanced queries to relevant staff
Additional Duties
- Route damaged materials for repair
- Shelving and shelf-reading of resources
- Report daily activities to the supervisor
Requirements
Minimum Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
Advantageous Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Library and Information Sciences
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
- Experience in circulation of library resources will be an added advantage
Knowledge and Skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy is essential
- Ability to work flexible hours on a rotation shift basis:
- Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 22:00
- Saturdays: 09:00 – 17:00
- Must be willing to work at least 6 hours per shift
