
Technical General Worker Vacancy – Shingwedzi Research Camp (Kruger National Park).
South African National Parks (SANParks) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Technical General Worker position within the Scientific Services division, based at Shingwedzi Research Camp in Kruger National Park. The successful candidate will support general maintenance of camp infrastructure, landscaping, cleaning of communal areas, and minor technical tasks such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, and equipment upkeep, while ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards in a research camp environment.
A Technical General Worker position is currently available within the Scientific Services division at South African National Parks (SANParks). The successful candidate will be based at Shingwedzi Research Camp in Kruger National Park. This opportunity is suitable for candidates with maintenance experience who are physically fit and willing to work in a conservation environment.

Salary: R138,690.74 – R182,902.28 per annum
The remuneration package includes a basic salary based on the Paterson B1 job grade, plus allowances and benefits as specified in the SANParks HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification
- 1–2 years’ practical experience in a maintenance-related field
- Brush cutter certificate or competency
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Machinery operating skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, gardening and standing for extended periods
- Self-motivated, responsible and disciplined
- Good time-management skills
- Willingness to work weekends and public holidays when required
- Valid and functional driver’s licence
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- First Aid Level 1 certificate will be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining terrain and gardens, including brush cutting and landscaping
- Performing routine maintenance on buildings, fences, roads, water supply and infrastructure
- Undertaking minor electrical, plumbing, welding and carpentry work within capability
- Carrying out general painting tasks
- Performing general cleaning duties, including removal of rubbish and cleaning fireplaces, braais and surrounding areas
- Ensuring the neatness of research campgrounds and communal areas at all times
- Cleaning vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment and ensuring they remain in good working condition
- Following Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices at all times
- Assisting the camp supervisor with cleaning of accommodation and communal areas when necessary
- Assisting with collection of supplies when required
- Supporting inventory counting processes
- Recording and reporting major maintenance issues to the camp supervisor
- Performing additional duties assigned by the camp supervisor
