Position Overview

The Human Resources Clerk position is a critical support role within the administrative framework of Boland College. The incumbent will be responsible for executing various human resources functions to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery within the institution. This role requires an individual who can maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive HR information. Attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and a sound understanding of public service regulations are essential attributes for success in this position.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the effective management of human capital by ensuring compliance with HR policies, maintaining employee records, and supporting the recruitment, selection, and development of staff. The successful candidate will perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties related to human resources operations, providing essential support to management and staff across different campuses when required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 certificate
  • A minimum of one to two years’ experience in Human Resources or a closely related administrative environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • A solid understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven administrative and record-keeping skills
  • A valid driver’s license
Key Responsibilities

The appointed candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties within the Human Resources department, including but not limited to:

  • Managing recruitment and selection processes such as job advertisements, appointments, transfers, verification of qualifications, interview secretariat functions, absorptions, and probationary periods
  • Implementing and maintaining conditions of service including leave administration, housing, medical aid, injury on duty, long service recognition, overtime, relocation, pension, allowances, and PILIR processes
  • Providing support in performance management and employee relations matters
  • Maintaining proper registry systems and ensuring compliance with HR record-keeping practices
  • Facilitating the termination of service processes in line with departmental and legislative requirements
  • Assisting with general administrative support to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of HR operations
Recommendations
  • National Diploma in Human Resources Management or an equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Knowledge or experience in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) such as PERSAL or SAGE 300 People
  • Experience in the TVET College sector will be considered an advantage
