Department of Health: Internship Programme 2026–2028

The South African Department of Health invites unemployed graduates to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme 2026–2028. This 24-month internship programme is aimed at providing practical workplace experience within the public service sector. Graduates interested in building careers in government institutions and healthcare administration are encouraged to submit applications before the closing date.

The internship programme targets graduates who have never participated in any internship programme before. Successful applicants will receive monthly stipends while gaining valuable work exposure in different directorates and divisions within the National Department of Health.

The Department continues to focus on employment equity and representivity. Preference may therefore be given to candidates whose appointment will support the Department’s Employment Equity Plan, particularly regarding race, gender, and disability representation.

Internship Programme Overview

The National Department of Health aims to improve graduate employability through occupationally based work experience opportunities. The programme will run for a period of twenty-four months and will be based in Pretoria.

This internship offers administrative and financial exposure within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.

Applications must be submitted using the new Z83 application form obtainable from any Public Service Department. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) must accompany the application form. Previous work experience, qualifications, skills, and competencies should be clearly detailed in the CV.

Only a completed Z83 form and CV are required during the initial application stage. Certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents will only be requested from shortlisted candidates before final selection.
