The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for various Cleaner positions across different regional offices. The advertised positions offer entry-level employment with clear duties related to cleaning, hygiene, and general upkeep of buildings, including offices, courts, toilets, kitchens, and surrounding areas. Successful candidates will be expected to perform routine cleaning tasks, follow health and safety requirements, and support the smooth operation of public facilities. REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade 10 or Standard 8, Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Good interpersonal skills, basic communication and literacy. Ability to perform cleaning routine tasks. Knowledge of usage of cleaning materials and equipment will be an added advantage.
DUTIES
  • Cleaning court rooms and holding cells. Cleaning toilets, basins and wall tiles. Empty and wash dustbins. Sweeping passages, floors, offices and pavements. Scrubbing, mopping and polishing floors. Dusting and polishing furniture. Cleaning windows, doors and walls. Vacuuming offices and stripping floors.

DUTIES
  • The effective cleaning of buildings including offices, court rooms and open spaces. Emptying dustbins. Dusting and polishing wooden tables and other furniture. Refilling water bottles with fresh water. Cleaning windows, doors and walls. Scrubbing, mopping and polishing floors and vacuuming carpets. Sweeping passages, office floors, pavements and basements.
  • The effective cleaning of toilets including deep cleaning of toilets, refilling toilet dispensers with toilet paper and hand washing soap, washing basins, walls and floors.
  • The effective cleaning of kitchens including washing dishes during forums and meetings, washing kitchen floors, cleaning kitchen appliances and assisting with tea and coffee during meetings.
  • Rendering assistance regarding the general safety of buildings by reporting defects encountered during cleaning, alerting working staff of slippery floors and stairs, and alerting supervisors of failed light bulbs and locks not working.
