The Department of Tourism invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the advertised contract positions. HR CLERK (1/2026)

Requirements:
  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of relevant Acts, policies, and prescripts
  • Knowledge of HR practices in the Public Service

Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting recruitment, selection and appointment processes
  • Sorting, capturing and numbering applications
  • Planning and arranging logistics for meetings
  • Attending meetings and taking minutes
  • Drafting submissions, offer and regret letters
  • Coordinating personnel suitability checks
  • Executing Persal transactions related to recruitment and service benefits
  • Administering conditions of service and benefits
  • Receiving and processing leave application forms
  • Capturing leave forms on Persal and printing on Persal and EDMS
  • Sending advice to finance for payment after leave gratuity approval
  • Responding to enquiries on leave matters
  • Capturing nomination of beneficiaries
  • Processing pension withdrawal documents
  • Opening and auditing employee SP files
  • Providing overall administrative support to the unit

ADMIN CLERK: INTERNAL CONTROL AND COMPLIANCE (2/2026)

  • National Diploma in Accounting/Finance/Internal Audit
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Internal Audit/Internal Control and Compliance

Non-RSA Citizens/Permanent Resident Permit holders in possession of foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation report issued by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) (only when shortlisted).

All shortlisted candidates shall undertake a (1) practical exercise as part of the assessment method to determine the candidate’s suitability based on the posts’ technical and generic requirements and (2) an ethical conduct test.

Some of the interviewed candidates for Senior Management level vacancies may be subjected to a 2-day competency assessment that will test generic competencies.

Appointment will be subject to the signing of the performance agreement, employment contract, and annual financial disclosure, and must attain a security clearance (vetting) applicable to the post.
