The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for 26 Security Officer positions under Infrastructure Management: Northern Operations. These posts are based at Nandoni Dam and Mokolo Pump Station.

This opportunity is suitable for applicants with an NQF Level 4 qualification and PSIRA Grade A registration who are seeking employment in the public sector security environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • NQF Level 4 Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent)
  • PSIRA Grade A registration
  • National Key Point Training Certificate
  • Firearm Competency Certificate
  • Understanding of the National Key Point Act 102 of 1980
  • Knowledge of:
    • Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995
    • Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1997
    • South African Constitution
    • Strategic Intelligence Act
    • Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
  • Knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks governing the public sector
  • Understanding of programme and project management
  • Understanding of financial management principles
  • Knowledge of policy development and implementation
  • Knowledge of asset and information protection principles
  • Threat and risk assessment skills
  • Investigation and interviewing skills
  • Conflict management tools and methodologies
  • Physical security shift operations experience
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Report writing, presentation, and networking skills
  • Accountability and ethical conduct
Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Controlling movement of people, vehicles, and goods at National Key Points (NKP)
  • Permitting or denying entry where required
  • Responding to security incidents and arresting unauthorized individuals when necessary
  • Conducting surveillance and monitoring security perimeters
  • Preventing unauthorized removal or entry of equipment, documents, and stores
  • Recording incidents in occurrence books and registers
  • Ensuring compliance with security procedures and policies

Foreign qualifications require a SAQA evaluation certificate (only when shortlisted).
