About SE Holdings Agro-Processing

SE Holdings is a South African agribusiness and farmer-development company involved in developing agricultural and agro-processing operations.

The company is establishing a new bean cleaning facility designed to receive dry beans from farmers, clean and grade the product, pack it and deliver it to food manufacturing customers. The facility is being developed around disciplined operational processes, food safety and full product traceability.

The Forklift Operator will therefore play an important role in ensuring that products are moved and stored safely and efficiently throughout the facility. Attention to detail is particularly important because products need to be handled according to storage, batch separation, stock rotation and hygiene requirements.

Purpose of the Forklift Operator Position

The main purpose of the position is to operate forklifts safely and efficiently while receiving, moving, stacking and loading bagged and bulk products.

The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Stores and Dispatch Coordinator and will support the movement of raw materials, finished products and other stock throughout the facility.

The position requires an individual who understands safe forklift operation, can follow workplace procedures and is capable of working effectively in a busy agricultural and agro-processing environment.

Forklift Operator Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties related to forklift operations, warehouse activities, stock movement and dispatch.

Key responsibilities include:

Offloading Deliveries

The Forklift Operator will assist with offloading incoming deliveries from farmers and suppliers. Products must be handled carefully and moved to the correct storage or intake area according to operational instructions.

Proper handling is important to prevent product damage and ensure that incoming stock is correctly positioned for processing or storage.

Stacking and Storage

The position will involve stacking and storing bags and pallets safely within designated storage areas.

The operator must follow established stacking heights and ensure that products are positioned securely. FIFO rotation and batch separation requirements must also be followed to support accurate stock management and traceability.

Moving Raw and Finished Products

The successful applicant will move raw products to the production line as required and transport finished products from production areas to storage and dispatch areas.

Forklift movements must be conducted safely while following site traffic rules and maintaining awareness of pedestrians and other employees working in the facility.

Loading Customer Delivery Trucks

The Forklift Operator will assist with loading customer delivery trucks accurately and safely.

Loading activities must be completed according to instructions from the Stores and Dispatch Coordinator. Products must be positioned correctly and handled in a manner that reduces the risk of damage or unsafe loading.

Forklift Inspections

Daily pre-use inspections and checklists must be completed before operating the forklift.

Any faults, damage or safety concerns identified during inspections must be reported immediately. Operators are expected to take responsibility for the safe condition of equipment used during their shifts.

Refuelling and Charging

The successful candidate will be responsible for refuelling or charging forklifts safely in accordance with workplace procedures.

Forklifts should also be kept clean and maintained in a suitable condition for safe operation.

Safety and Hygiene

The operator must follow site traffic rules, pedestrian safety procedures and hygiene requirements.

Because the facility will handle food-grade agricultural products, maintaining appropriate hygiene standards is an important part of the role.

Stock Counts and Warehouse Duties

The Forklift Operator may also be required to assist with stock counts and other general warehouse duties when necessary.

This may include supporting the stores and dispatch team with product movement and maintaining an organised working environment.
