General Assistant Wanted – Salary R11,283 to R13,571 per Month

uPhongolo Local Municipality invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for three General Assistant – Parks and Amenities positions available to both internal and external applicants under Task Grade 04 of a Category 2 Local Authority with a salary scale ranging from R135,398.64 to R162,855.96 per annum plus normal fringe benefits applicable to Local Government.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic adult education qualification required
  • Minimum 6 months relevant experience in gardening, landscaping support, cleaning, refuse handling, or related manual work
  • Applicants must be physically fit
  • Ability to perform outdoor manual duties
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors
  • Communication skills required
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions

Key Performance Areas

  • Cutting and trimming lawns and verges using hand-held tools
  • Clearing overgrown shrubs in municipal open spaces
  • Weeding, cleaning and shaping flower beds
  • Collecting litter from open public areas
  • Removing and replacing refuse bags from public bins
  • Transporting refuse bags to designated municipal collection points
  • Assisting with loading and offloading refuse bags and garden waste into municipal vehicles
  • Cleaning debris from tools and vehicles using pressurized cleaning systems such as hand-held hoses
  • Cleaning equipment using brushes and approved cleaning materials
  • Placing and stacking tools in designated storage areas after use
  • Reporting damaged or missing tools to supervisors
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and municipal parks
