Higher Health invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Campus Care Worker (CCW) within TVET and Community Education and Training (CET) institutions. The role is campus-based and focuses on implementing Higher Health programmes aimed at improving student health, wellbeing, and academic performance. The Campus Care Worker provides direct social support to students, links them to psychosocial services, coordinates wellness and civic skills programmes, and works closely with peer mentors, educators, and key stakeholders at campus level.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Social Science, registration with the relevant professional body, and experience working with adolescents and young people. Strong administrative, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to collect and report data accurately. Purpose:

This position is campuses based; the incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of HIGHER HEALTH programmes within the institution (TVET and CET).

As a Campus Care Worker, you will support students facing challenging situations, assisting them to find solutions to their problems, with the aim of improving their health and wellbeing, including their academic performance.

Main Functions
  1. Recruitment and supervision of Peer Mentors and Peer Educators
  2. Provide social support services at campuses as well as linkage to psychosocial support services
  3. Coordination and mentorship to learners on civic and wellness skills programmes at campus level
  4. Stakeholder management and sectoral coordination
  5. Data collection and reporting
  6. Communication, advocacy, and lobbying
  7. Administration
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work / Social Science
  • Any other Master’s in Social Science or related qualification will be an added advantage
  • Registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) or Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP)
  • Driver’s licence (added advantage)
Experience
  • Basic knowledge of case management and report writing
  • Working with Adolescents and Young People (AYPs)
  • Experience and knowledge of the Higher Education Sector (added advantage)
  • Experience in data collection and reporting
  • Stakeholder management at local and district level
  • Facilitation in capacity development and skills training
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Package)
