Human Resource Registry Clerk Vacancy at Department of Water and Sanitation – Apply by 15 April 2026

The Department of Water and Sanitation invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Human Resource Registry Clerk (Ref No: 150426/14) based in Bloemfontein, Free State. The position offers a salary of R228 321 per annum (Level 05) within the Directorate: Corporate Support Services, Sub-Directorate: Human Resources Management. Applicants must be in possession of a Senior Certificate / Grade 12, while a National Diploma in Records Management / Archives or Human Resources Management will serve as an added advantage. Relevant registry experience, computer literacy in Microsoft Office, knowledge of HR prescripts, PERSAL, and the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa Act No. 43 of 1996 are required, together with good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities include implementing confidential filing systems in the HRM Registry, providing registry counter services, opening and maintaining files according to approved file plans, handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining file tracking systems, performing electronic filing of submissions and memorandums, processing documents for archiving and disposal, maintaining registers of archived records, distributing mail, and supporting additional HR administrative functions as required. Requirements
  • A Senior Certificate / Grade 12 certificate is required.

  • Basic knowledge of the National Archive and Records Service of South Africa Act No. 43 of 1996 is required.
  • Knowledge of storage and retrieval procedures in terms of working environment is required.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
  • Ability to work under pressure is required.
Duties
  • Implement confidential filing system in the HRM Registry.

All shortlisted candidates pertaining to Senior Management Services (SMS) posts will be subjected to a technical and competency assessment and a pre-entry certificate obtained from the National School of Government is required prior to appointment.

All shortlisted candidates, including SMS candidates, will undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other will be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.

Candidates will be required to complete a financial disclosure form and undergo security clearance. Foreigners or dual citizenship holders must provide a police clearance certificate from the country of origin (only when shortlisted).
