JOB OPENING: Municipal Patrol Officer (Law Enforcement)

Key Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience. You must have performed active duties in a Police, Traffic, or Law Enforcement environment within the past 6 months.
  • Qualifications: Peace Officer Qualification (min. 6 weeks training) and a Code B driver’s license.
  • Clearance: No criminal record (Police clearance required).
  • Languages: Proficiency in at least two of the Western Cape’s official languages (English, Afrikaans, Xhosa).
  • Physicality: Must be physically fit and able-bodied.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work shifts covering a 24-hour period and wear a prescribed uniform.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain law, order, and safety through the enforcement of municipal by-laws and legislation.
  • Monitor specific municipal areas and respond to inappropriate behavior or safety threats.
  • Enforce road traffic and safety regulations.
  • Complete statutory reports and documentation.
  • Obtain a municipal driver authority upon appointment and a firearm competency certificate within 1 month.
