Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the Seaman positions that has become available in the Operations Division. The seaman is a team member of the sea going boat crew that ensures Shark Safety Gear is correctly installed and maintained thereby, safeguarding the bathing public along KZN’s beaches.
Minimum Requirement & Job Competences:
- Standard 8 (Grade 10).
- A swimmer and be physically fit
- Team player.
- Ability to sustain physical strength for extended periods
- Previous seagoing experience an advantage
Main Duties (this is a summary and does not include all responsibilities assigned to the post):
- Meshing Activities.
- Maintenance and cleaning of base gardens and buildings.
- Assist in launching and crewing the boat, weather conditions permitting.
- Ensure all equipment is loaded in the boat and is in its correct position and properly secured.
- Ensure that the boat is safely pushed into the water.
- Ensure boat has enough petrol.
- Ensure anchors are lifted safely.
- Ensure that the Shark Safety Gear is serviced and maintained properly.
- General housekeeping.

Preference will be given to those applicants who reside in areas nearest to the base station.
