The General Worker position requires a minimum of Grade 8, while the Social Media Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer positions require Grade 12 plus a National Diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Media or a related field. The officer positions also require 2–3 years of relevant experience, excellent English communication skills and a valid driver’s licence.

Duties:
Reporting directly to the Plumber (Operation & Maintenance), the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Perform manual tasks by digging and filling trenches
- Cutting pipes
- Drilling holes in pipes
- Loading and offloading pipes on truck/trailer
- Connecting pipes
- Cleaning and storing of equipment
- Perform any other related reasonable task
Requirements:
- Grade 8
- Be able to read and write
- Be physically strong and withstand all weather conditions
Salary: R151 984,00 basic salary per annum excluding benefits
OFFICE OF THE MUNICIPAL MANAGER
SOCIAL MEDIA LIAISON OFFICER
Duties:
Reporting directly to Divisional Head Communications, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Coordinate social media communications & channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other relevant platforms
- Work as part of a team to develop social media campaigns
- Propose new ideas and concepts for social media content
- Update all municipal web pages
- Uploading of municipal data on web and social media platforms
- Monitoring social media channels to respond appropriately to posts/comments, and identifying issues that require escalation
- Analyse and report audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects
- Monitor feedback comments posted on social media platforms in collaboration with customer support unit in order to respond to inquiries
- Support events of the Mayor and Municipal events by providing Social Media services
- Interview different stakeholders and produce write-ups on various human settlements and sector issues
- Developing and implementing content marketing campaigns appropriate to the channel used
- Monitoring social media channels to respond appropriately to posts/comments, and identifying issues that require escalation
Requirements:
- Grade 12 plus National Diploma in Public Relations/Communications/Journalism/Marketing/Digital Media or a related field
- 2–3 years’ relevant experience. Experience in managing organisational or institutional social media platform is needed
- Excellent writing and verbal communication in the English language is critical
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant social media management tools
- Ability to function well under pressure and meet prescribed deadlines
- A valid drivers’ licence
Salary Scale: R488 279,00 – R539 143,00 basic salary per annum excluding benefits
PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
Duties:
Reporting directly to the Manager in the Office of the Mayor, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Develop and implement public relations and communication plans aligned with the municipality’s strategic objectives
- Prepare and distribute media statements, press releases, articles, public notices, newsletters and other communication materials
- Draft speeches, speaking notes, presentations and key messages for the Mayor when required, ensuring alignment with municipal priorities and programs
- Coordinate media relations and respond to media enquiries in accordance with approved municipal communication protocols
- Coordinate public relations activities during municipal events, campaigns, community engagements and official programs
- Maintain effective relationship with media houses, communities, councillors, traditional healers, government departments and other stakeholders
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiments concerning the municipality
- Prepare media monitoring reports
Requirements:
- Grade 12 plus National Diploma in Public Relations/Communications/Journalism/Marketing or a related field
- 2–3 years’ relevant experience (experience in a municipal or public sector communication environment)
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to function well under pressure and meet prescribed deadlines
- A valid drivers’ licence
