McCain Foods (South Africa) invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the full time position of Safety Officer based in Delmas site. The successful candidate will report to the Risk Manager.
Position: Safety Officer
Location: Delmas, Mpumalanga
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The position is responsible for ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, COIDA and McCain Global and Local requirements, as well as compliance in Construction, Risk, Contractor and Health Legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor compliance to current policies, procedures, registers, legislation and regulation for the site.
- Participate in Emergency exercises for the site
- Conduct audits and inspections of plants to ensure compliance & conformance
- Ensure that Non-conformances and deviations are identified and corrected
- Ensure that Unsafe acts and conditions identified and reported to management
- Investigate and compile incident investigation reports as per standard
- Ensure 3rd party contractor compliance onsite.
- Ensure compliance to the requirements of any permits, licenses, certificates or authorizations onsite.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum is a National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
- Certificate of training on SAMTRAC or OHSA’s.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role specifically from the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Previous experience with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) is essential.
- Valid drivers licence
- Knowledge of relevant Legislations, construction regulations, standards, incident, investigations techniques, risk assessment methodologies
- Knowledge and application of related OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001
