Pipe Tracks and Ventilation (PTV)

Location: West Wits

Responsibilities:

  • Making working construction area safe.
  • Installation of support and equipment where necessary.
  • Reporting abnormal activities.
  • Installation and suspension of pipes according to standards.
  • Effecting the barring of the area and cleaning the construction area.
  • Ensuring a high standard of safety in the area.
  • Operation of all mechanical equipment/tools.

Experience:

  • Minimum 24 months experience in underground mining support roles.
  • No limitations to working in confined spaces and heights.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/Matric.
  • Competent B certification.
  • Certificate of fitness and ability to pass heat stress tests.
  • Strong technical understanding of mining infrastructure.
  • Ability to operate mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork.
  • High attention to detail and safety awareness.

Rock Drill Operator

Location: West Wits

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the drilling face and barricades area off.
  • Installs, extends, and maintains services.
  • Drills the panel as indicated according to requirements.
  • Assembles and disassembles equipment.
  • Charges and connects holes in the panel.
  • Development/Stope Rock Drill Operator equipment maintenance.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–4 years’ underground experience in the mining industry.
  • Development and Steep Stope Operator experience will be advantageous.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Grade 12/Matric.
  • Competent B certification.
  • Rock Drill Operators’ competency certificate.
  • Physical fitness: Must be physically fit and able to work in challenging environments.
  • Safety consciousness: Strong awareness of safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Winch Operator

Location: West Wits

Responsibilities:

  • Operating and maintaining winches to pull ore and heavy material.

  • Providing pumping operations support.
  • Start, stop, and adjust water pumps based on water abstraction demand, system requirements, and established schedules.
  • Continuously monitor pump performance, water pressure, flow rates, and other relevant indicators to ensure proper operation and address any anomalies promptly.
  • Ensuring availability of relevant pump spares, tools, materials, and resources.

Experience:

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Pump Attendant.

  • Matric/Grade 12.
  • Mining dewatering experience.
  • Trained in pump operations.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write English.
  • Strong technical aptitude to do troubleshooting analysis.
