Successful candidates will be stationed and deployed across various operational bases in the Western Cape, including Table Mountain National Park.

PURPOSE
The Fire Truck Driver (Engine Boss) will play an important role in NCC Environmental Services’ wildland firefighting operations.
The position requires a responsible and experienced driver who can safely operate specialized firefighting vehicles while supporting fire crews during operational deployments. The successful candidates may be required to travel to different fire sites and operational bases depending on firefighting needs.
The role requires individuals who can remain calm and focused during emergency situations. Firefighting operations can involve difficult terrain, changing weather conditions, long working hours and high-pressure situations. Applicants therefore need to be physically fit, adaptable and capable of working effectively as part of a firefighting team.
JOB OUTPUTS
- Perform firefighting duties, including fire prevention tasks
- Professional handling of vehicles and equipment (specialized fire-fighting vehicles and equipment)
- Safely transport firefighters to and from fire sites
- Ensure compliance with all traffic regulations
- Maintain vehicles and equipment in excellent condition, including:
- Completion of daily vehicle checklists.
- Completion of vehicle logbooks.
- Completion of checklists for all-terrain firefighting vehicles and tankers.
- Maintain radio communication with Dispatch Centre and/or Fire Boss during fire incidents
- Participate in fitness activities to maintain a high level of physical fitness
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Code C1 driver’s license (Code 10) and a Professional Driver’s Permit (PrDP).
- Preference will be given to applicants with a Code C license and PrDP (Code 11) for versatility.
- Clean driving record
- Flexibility to respond to emergency situations, including:
- Availability for 45 working hours per week
- Availability for additional hours on short notice
- Willingness to be on standby at a fire base for prolonged periods
- Available to work shifts
- No criminal record
- Excellent knowledge of the Cape Town area
- High level of fitness and good health
- Ability to work under pressure, in stressful situations, and as part of a team
- Alignment to the company’s Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Substance Use Policy
