The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for various Administrative Clerk and Finance Clerk vacancies available across several provinces in South Africa. Minimum Requirements

Applicants applying for Administrative Clerk positions must possess a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification. Candidates should also demonstrate competency in acting independently, professionally, accountably, and with credibility.

The Finance Clerk position requires additional knowledge in financial administration and government systems such as BAS, PERSAL, LOGIS, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Clerks will provide administrative support within different NPA offices and legal units.

Duties may include:

• Managing office correspondence
• Maintaining filing systems
• Typing reports and official documents
• Assisting prosecutors and legal staff
• Receiving and dispatching documents
• Capturing statistics and reports
• Liaising with stakeholders and members of the public
• Handling office enquiries
• Providing logistical support

Administrative Clerk (ECMS) positions focus on electronic case management and court administration.

Responsibilities include:

• Registering and scanning incoming dockets
• Capturing cases on the Electronic Case Management System (ECMS)
• Updating court information daily
• Generating reports and statistics
• Conducting data verification
• Maintaining accurate records
• Assisting prosecutors with case administration
• Managing court-related documents
• Liaising with SAPS regarding dockets and case information
• Assisting witnesses and complainants with court-related communication

Finance Clerks will perform financial administration duties, including:

• Processing supplier payments
• Managing payment registers
• Capturing travel and subsistence claims
• Administering petty cash
• Tracking creditor payments
• Assisting with budget administration
• Compiling financial reports
• Filing payment documents
• Liaising with suppliers and stakeholders

Important Notes

Applications must include a completed new Z83 application form and a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) containing detailed information about work experience, qualifications, and skills. Failure to submit the required documents may result in disqualification. Only shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit certified copies of qualifications and other supporting documents before the interview date.

The new Z83 application form is obtainable from any Public Service Department or from the Department of Public Service and Administration website. Applications submitted using the old Z83 form will not be considered.

Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation report issued by SAQA. Applicants holding foreign qualifications are responsible for obtaining the SAQA evaluation before appointment. Proof of evaluation will only be required from shortlisted candidates.

Documents submitted with applications should not be password protected. ZIP files will also not be accepted by the electronic recruitment system used by the National Prosecuting Authority.

Applicants are advised that the National Prosecuting Authority uses an Electronic Response Handling System for emailed applications. Candidates should not immediately contact the NPA after submitting applications to confirm receipt. If no acknowledgement of receipt is received within one week after the closing date, applicants may then contact the NPA.

The National Prosecuting Authority reserves the right not to fill any advertised position. Applicants who do not receive feedback within six months after the closing date should consider their applications unsuccessful.

Successful candidates will undergo a security clearance process. Appointments remain provisional until the required security clearance has been completed successfully. Fingerprints may be taken on the day of the interview as part of the verification process.

A valid driver’s licence may be required for certain positions where applicable.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete pre-entry assessments, including practical exercises and integrity assessments aimed at evaluating ethical conduct and job-related competencies.

Applicants applying for Senior Management Service positions within the Public Service must complete the National School of Government SMS Pre-Entry Programme before appointment. The programme is designed specifically for entry into the Senior Management Service within the Public Service sector.

Successful candidates should note that resettlement costs will not be covered by the National Prosecuting Authority.
