As the OHS Officer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, managing, and implementing OHS risk strategies within the Boxer Group. Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma/3-year Degree in Safety/Occupational Health and Safety
- An Environmental certificate will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant OHS experience
- Solid understanding of OHS regulations, including the OHS Act, SANS regulations, Water and Pollution Act, and Environmental Act
- Strong relationship-building, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Excel
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Implementation
- Develop and implement new risk policies and procedures
External Relationship Building
- Liaise with external parties for OHS reports, including the Department of Labour, Fire Department, and Health Department
Risk Identification and Evaluation
- Identify and evaluate risks within the OHS Act, building regulations, insurance requirements, and SA national standards regulations
- Stay updated on changes, new regulations, and acts
- Conduct physical site inspections, complete checklists, and gather evidence
- Investigate incidents on an ad-hoc basis
Compliance and Risk Management
- Maintain a comprehensive risk register
- Update the risk register weekly based on findings, risks identified, and implementations
- Identify contractors appointed by Boxer and ensure the acquisition of a letter of good standing before commencement of work
- Report on risks, liaise with relevant internal and external departments
- Document findings, make recommendations, obtain management responses, and conduct follow-ups on implementation

- Provide hands-on training for new OHS appointments
- Plan and manage own workflow, anticipating obstacles and juggling priorities
