
Parliament of the Republic of South Africa invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of General Cleaner within the Institutional Support Services Department (Household Services Section). This role is responsible for providing effective and efficient general cleaning services across the Parliamentary precinct in accordance with approved cleaning standards, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
The successful candidates will be responsible for cleaning occupant offices, public spaces, and common areas, while ensuring full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Applicants must have a minimum of Grade 10, with Grade 11 or an equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification considered an advantage, as well as at least two years’ relevant cleaning experience. The ability to work flexible hours, follow instructions, and operate industrial cleaning equipment will be essential for this role.

JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing effective and efficient general cleaning services on the precinct of Parliament in accordance with relevant cleaning standards and requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cleaning of occupant spaces and areas
- Cleaning of public spaces and common areas
- Compliance with health and safety requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 10
- Grade 11 or an equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification will be an advantage
- Two (2) years’ relevant experience
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Ability to read, write, and follow schedules and instructions
- Ability to adapt to changes easily
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards related to cleaning processes and activities
- Knowledge of office cleaning processes and procedures
- Experience in using industrial cleaning machines and equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners)
