The Limpopo Department of Health invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) positions available across various Primary Health Care facilities in Limpopo Province. Candidates must possess the required qualifications and current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).

(A) INHERENT REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience
  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as Pharmacist Assistant [Post Basic].
  • Current Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic.
Grade 1
  • None after registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist Assistant [Post Basic].
Grade 2
  • 5 years after registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist Assistant [Post Basic].
Grade 3
  • 13 years after registration with the SAPC as Pharmacist Assistant [Post Basic].
Additional Requirements
  • Computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Visual Meeting Platforms.
  • Valid Driver’s License except for people with disabilities.

(C) KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Provide pharmaceutical services under the direct or indirect supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with the scope of practice of a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic).
  • Assist with procurement, storage, distribution and control of pharmaceutical stock.
  • Receive, issue and maintain stock records of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages, expiries and losses.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant legislation.
  • Assist with dispensing and issuing of medicines as prescribed and authorized.
  • Participate in stock taking and inventory management processes.
  • Maintain proper record keeping and filing systems.
  • Assist in the implementation of pharmaceutical care services at Primary Health Care facilities.
  • Promote rational use of medicines and provide appropriate information to healthcare workers and patients within the approved scope of practice.
  • Ensure cleanliness, safety and security of the pharmacy environment.
  • Perform administrative duties related to pharmaceutical services.
  • Compile and submit reports as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement programmes.
  • Perform any other lawful duties delegated by the supervisor.
