Research Scientist Assistant x3

3 Year Contract

R498 783.57 Total Cost to Company

The successful candidate will be based at the Brits Laboratory and will be reporting to
the Research and Development Manager,
The incumbent will assist the Research and Development Manager with the following
key functions:

  • Inception and execution of water related research projects.
  • The execution of trials for new and existing water treatment technologies.
  • Conduct jar tests to evaluate the performance of various treatment chemicals.
  • Compile and submit technical reports to the R & D Manager.
  • Evaluate the performance of water treatment systems and technologies.
  • New and existing technology implementation and evaluation.
  • Perform data analysis, trend analysis and reporting for key research projects.
  • Conduct monitoring and assessment of surface water resources.
  • Compile and submit literature reviews for assigned research topics.
  • The required candidate must have good understanding of the following:
  • SANS 241 drinking water quality requirements
  • Water and wastewater treatment technologies
  • Research proposals, literature reviews and reports
  • Aquatic toxicity testing and results interpretation.

To be considered for appointment candidates must have:

  • BSc or BTech in Aquatic ecology, aquatic management or any related natural
    sciences qualification majoring in Aquatic ecology, aquatic management, aquatic
    health, or aquatic toxicity.
  • A valid code 10 driver’s license
  • 2 years relevant work experience
  • The ability to swim/swimming certificate will be an added advantage
