Position: Grant Administrator (X3 Posts)

Salary: R228,321 – R268,950 per annum (exclusive of benefits)

About the Role

The Grant Administrator position is central to SASSA’s service delivery mandate. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that clients receive professional, efficient, and accurate assistance when applying for or maintaining social grants. This role requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, ethical conduct, and a strong commitment to public service.

Grant Administrators work directly with members of the public, providing support in navigating application processes, verifying documentation, capturing information accurately into systems, and maintaining beneficiary records. The role also requires collaboration with internal teams to ensure smooth processing of grant-related services.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold a qualification at NQF Level 6 as recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) in one of the following fields:

Candidates with foreign qualifications must ensure that their qualifications are evaluated by SAQA prior to the selection process. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain and submit proof of evaluation where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will perform the following duties:

1. Grant Customer Service

Provide frontline customer service to clients visiting SASSA offices. This includes guiding applicants through grant requirements, explaining eligibility criteria, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.

2. Screening and Capturing Applications

Accurately screen grant applications to confirm completeness and compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Capture application details into the system while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

3. Beneficiary Maintenance

Update and maintain beneficiary records, ensuring that all changes in circumstances are properly recorded. This function plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of the social assistance system.

4. Medical Bookings and Assessments

Administer and coordinate medical bookings and assessments where required, ensuring that beneficiaries are scheduled appropriately and documentation is processed efficiently.

5. Off-Site Grant Application Services

Provide mobile or off-site services to communities where necessary. This may involve traveling to designated areas to assist applicants who are unable to visit local offices.

6. Scanning and Batching of Files

Manage document control processes, including scanning, batching, and filing grant documentation. Proper document management is critical for compliance and audit purposes.

The role demands professionalism, confidentiality, and strict adherence to SASSA policies and procedures at all times.
