POLICING & LAW ENFORCEMENT
Saldanha Bay Municipality is recruiting committed, disciplined, and physically capable individuals to permanently serve as Learner Law Enforcement Officers (LLEOs) in the Tactical Response Unit (TRU).
These officers will perform proactive patrols, enforce municipal bylaws, assist SAPS operations, and protect municipal infrastructure through structured and intelligence-driven deployment.
Minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 or relevant NQF4 level qualification
- 0-2 years relevant experience
- Law Enforcement / Peace Officer qualification successfully completed at an accredited training institution
- South African citizen with a valid ID
- No criminal record [vetting required] and appointment is subject to police clearance
- Code B Driver’s license
- Must reside within the jurisdiction of the municipality.
Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans/English/Xhosa – Read, Write and Speak)

- Must work overtime/ shifts when required and perform standby duties when required
- Physically fit and medically cleared for operational deployment
- Willingness and ability to work 12- hour shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required

Added Advantage:
- Previous experience in Municipal Law Enforcement, SAPS or Traffic services environment and Firearm proficiency will be an added advantage.
Duties will entail:
- Operational support – deployment to protect municipal infrastructure from vandalism, theft, and illegal occupation.
- Mobile and foot patrols of municipal assets.
- Maintain high visibility to deter criminal activity.
- By-law Enforcement – Enforce municipal by-laws and assist with complaints reported to Law Enforcement. Issue verbal warnings and written notices for transgressions.
- Assist with the impoundment of stray animals
- Crime Prevention and SAPS Support – Assist in planned joint operations with SAPS and community safety structures.
- Conduct perimeter security and crowd control.
- Conduct inspections at municipal premises.
- Conduct Law Enforcement duties at special events and during emergency situations.
- Documentation and Reporting – Complete shift reports and enforcement logs.
- Log all patrols, site visits, and actions taken.
- Participate in briefings and debriefings.
- Assist with activities to enhance service delivery in general.
- Any other related duties as and when necessary.
