
Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Seasonal Lifeguard for pools for the period from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026. Applicants must have completed Grade 8, hold a First Aid certificate, a Lifesaver’s Bronze award, be physically fit, and have at least one year of lifesaving experience. Candidates must be 16 years of age or older. Responsibilities include rescuing drowning persons, monitoring pool safety and compliance with by-laws, assisting with gala event setups, and ensuring pool temperature readings are taken.
Applications require a curriculum vitae, a covering letter, and certified supporting documents. No application form is necessary. Fraudulent information or canvassing will lead to disqualification, and some candidates may be required to undertake additional practical or defensive driving tests prior to interviews. Requirements:
- Grade 8
- First Aid certificate

- One (1) years’ lifesaving experience
Key performance areas:
- Rescues drowning persons
- Monitors and enforces compliance with pools and public safety by-laws
- Assists with setting up for Gala events
- Ensures temperature readings of pool is taken
- May be required to also work at other workstations in the coastal and inland region at his/her own cost
