
The Department of Correctional Services invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Security Officers (CB1-1; CB1-2; CB1-3) (X381 Posts) under reference number FSNC 2026/01/26. These posts are based at the Free State and Northern Cape Region, Mangaung Maximum Correctional Centre. The positions offer annual salaries of R212 358 for CB1-1, R257 895 for CB1-2, and R313 521 for CB1-3. Applicants must have Matric/Grade 12 and successful completion of the Correctional Science Learnership, Basic Training, or Induction Training Course (ITC). No previous experience is required for CB1-1, while CB1-2 and CB1-3 require ten (10) years of relevant experience at the respective lower levels.
Successful candidates will be responsible for access control, inmate movement control, guarding inmates within correctional facilities and external institutions, conducting physical security inspections, managing security control rooms, and ensuring rehabilitation of offenders in a secure and humane environment. Competencies required include computer literacy, firearm competency, good communication and report-writing skills, and knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and minimum security standards. REQUIREMENTS:

- Ensure rehabilitation of offenders through correction and human development in a secure, safe and humane detention facility.
