Job Summary

Minimum Qualifications:

• Matric
• PSIRA registration
• Firearm competency/license in handgun or shotgun (advantageous)
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) (advantageous)

Experience and Competencies Required:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Security Guard or Security Officer
• Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
• Report writing skills
• Advanced/defensive driving skills
• Firearm competency for handgun, shotgun, or rifle
• Physical health and fitness
• Strong communication skills
• Tech-savvy with experience in surveillance systems and communication equipment
• Trained in First Aid/BLS
• Trained in self-defense

Key Performance Areas:

• Regularly patrol premises to maintain order and establish presence
• Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people on the property
• Secure all exits, doors, and windows after operations
• Periodically check surveillance cameras to identify disruptions or unlawful acts
• Investigate individuals for suspicious activity or possessions
• Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing situations
• Provide assistance to people in need
• Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to legal protocols before authorities arrive
• Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and significant occurrences
• Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area
