Across both advertisements, 13 permanent Guard positions are available.

Job Purpose

The Guard position is responsible for preventing and deterring crime and security incidents through the enforcement of relevant legislation, company policies, procedures and rules.

The successful candidates will be responsible for monitoring and protecting Sibanye-Stillwater assets and employees at the various operations where Protection Services are deployed.

The role involves a strong focus on security control room operations. Guards will monitor multiple security systems, identify suspicious activity and security threats, record incidents and coordinate the appropriate response when an incident or emergency occurs.

Minimum Requirements

• PSIRA Grade C

Candidates must be in possession of a valid PSIRA Grade C certificate.

• Capture incidents in the Electronic Occurrence Book.
• Write statements regarding detected incidents or events.
• Report faulty security systems to the shift Supervisor.

• Gather evidence relating to incidents.

Communication Duties

The successful candidate will use different communication systems during daily operations.

These include radio, telephone and intercom communication.

Information about incidents, alarms, suspicious activity and emergency situations must be communicated to the relevant personnel so that appropriate action can be taken.

Monitoring High-Risk Areas

Guards will conduct focused observation of identified “hot-spot” areas that may be vulnerable to criminal attacks or other security risks.

The purpose is to detect irregularities, breaches of policies and procedures, and criminal activity.

Routine and random observation of the broader operational area will also be conducted.

Dispatching Response Teams

When irregularities, alarms or other security events are detected, the Guard may be responsible for dispatching reaction or response team members.
