Minimum Qualifications and Registration:
- Formal Tertiary qualification in Social Work (Bachelor of Social Work) that allows professional registration with the SACSSP.
- Registration with the SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Profession) as a Social Worker.
- A valid Driver’s License.
Experience Requirements:
- Grade 1: None (entry-level).
- Grade 2: Minimum 10 years’ experience in social work after registration as Social Worker with SACSSP.
- Grade 3: Minimum 20 years’ experience in social work after registration with SACSSP.
- Grade 4: Minimum 30 years’ experience in social work after registration with SACSSP.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish social work services and networks for the Institution and maintain communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure social work service is rendered with regard to the care, support, and protection of individuals, groups, and families through relevant programmes.
- Keep up to date with new developments in social work.
- Undertake social work research and development; contribute to policy development.
- Render holistic social work services to individuals, groups, and communities using various social work methods.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of recommended interventions, provide progress reports and identify further interventions as needed.
- Liaise and attend meetings with other departments and non-governmental institutions regarding developments in relevant fields.
- Produce and maintain qualitative and quantitative records of social work interventions, processes, and outcomes.
- Implement social welfare programmes aligned to community needs and government priorities.
- Supervise all administrative functions required within the unit and perform higher administrative duties.
