.Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Health, Safety and Environmental Officer for its Hartbeespoort operations. HSE Officer will be responsible for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating all health, safety, and environmental risks. This position reports to the Risk Manager and carries the TASK Grade T11. The ideal candidate must be in possession of Health and Safety Management National Diploma or relevant qualification and 4-5 years’ experience in the HSE environment is essential.
Results Required:
- Maintain the agreed-upon live system where all incidents are reported and recorded within the same shift.
- Implement a system to identify and rectify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Identify the root cause of all injuries and partner with area managers to eliminate or reduce recurrences.
- Ensure that waste disposal systems are complied with.
- Measure compliance to SHE legislation, internal standards.
- Implement and maintain a corrective action initiation and follow up system.
- Maintain the contractor control and permit to work system.
- Maintain the NOSA management system at processing plant.
Critical Competencies and Skills:
- Sound SHE knowledge and experience
- Good auditing and root cause investigating skills and able to take corrective action
- Good communication skills
- Good report writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks
- Good Computer literacy
