The Unit for Undergraduate Medical Education (UUME) in the School of Clinical Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified individuals, for appointment as a part time (60%) administrator in the MBBCh 1&2 programme.

The working hours for this post will be 25 hours per week, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday), with a minimum of 1 hour worked per day

Main purpose of the job
The main purpose of this position is to support the functioning of the person and office of the Head: MBBCh 1&2 and E-Learning. Additional duties are specified in the “Key performance areas” section below.

Brief Description
Key performance areas

Providing general administrative support to the office of the MBBCh 1&2 and E-learning Coordinator, including:
· filing, data capturing, assist with preparation of reports and proposals, scheduling of meetings, record keeping of student results, assist with communication with students
· attend and take minutes at MBBCh 1&2 curriculum meetings, arrange catering, book venue, invite attendees and circulate documents as required
· course administration: management of learning management system sites and relevant documents, book venues, student communication, preparation of test and exam papers, scanning of multiple choice question (MCQ) cards, data capturing of student results and monitoring of student progression, administration of student assessment submissions and teaching assistant/ writing fellow duties, preparation of course reports in consultation with the MBBCh 1 & 2 Coordinator, assist with printing and preparation (e.g. binding) of academic materials
· records data needed for yearly apportioning of student full time teaching equivalent (FTE) to departments for the MBBCH 1&2 teaching activities

Minimum requirements to apply for this position:
· Matric
· Recognised post matric qualification in Administration or a Health Sciences discipline
· Two years relevant administrative experience or candidates with Post Graduate Experience in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand preferable
· Proven analytical skills, detail driven, excellent computer skills, especially Excel & Word
· Written and verbal communication skills at a high level
· Understanding of student experience at a higher education institution as advantageous
