Minimum Requirements

- Experience: No prior experience is required, though a minimum of 1 year of relevant exposure to a court environment will be considered a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities
The Usher Messenger will be responsible for a range of duties critical to the efficient functioning of the court. These include, but are not limited to:
- Escorting Judges: Accompany Judges to and from courtrooms, ensuring their safety and punctuality for court proceedings.
- Administrative Support: Assist Judges and courtroom staff with administrative tasks, such as preparing court documents, organizing files, and ensuring all necessary materials are available for court sessions.
- Courtroom Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and readiness of courtrooms, including arranging seating, ensuring equipment functionality, and preparing the space for proceedings.
- Record Keeping: Manage and organize courtroom records, ensuring they are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Facilitating Smooth Court Operations: Support the seamless running of court sessions by coordinating with court staff, legal teams, and other stakeholders.
- Document Handling: Collect, distribute, and photocopy official documents, including court rolls, case files, and other legal paperwork, ensuring timely delivery to relevant parties.
- Court Presence: Be present in court during sessions to assist with immediate needs, such as delivering messages or documents to Judges or court personnel.
- Court Roll Distribution: Make copies of court rolls and distribute them according to the court’s distribution list, ensuring all relevant parties are informed of schedules.
- General Messenger Duties: Perform messenger tasks, such as delivering parcels, files, and post within and outside the court premises, as required.
- Office Support: Provide general assistance in the court office during downtime, including answering queries, organizing supplies, and supporting administrative staff.
Additional Responsibilities (Proposed Enhancements)
To further contribute to the court’s operations, the Usher Messenger may also:
- Digital Record Support: Assist in digitizing court records or updating electronic case management systems, where applicable, to support the court’s modernization efforts.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a point of contact for external visitors, such as attorneys or members of the public, to guide them to appropriate courtrooms or offices.
- Basic IT Support: Provide minor technical assistance, such as setting up audio-visual equipment for virtual hearings, under the guidance of court IT staff.
- Training Support: Participate in training sessions to stay updated on court protocols, safety procedures, and new administrative systems.
