The available programmes include Policy & Research, Legal, Human Resource, Public Education & Information, and Monitoring and Evaluation internships.
The internships are offered on a 24-month contract and are suitable for graduates who meet the specific academic and other requirements for the programme of their choice. Successful candidates will enter into an Internship Agreement with the Commission for Gender Equality.

1. Policy & Research Internship Programme
The Policy & Research Internship Programme is offered on a 24-month contract and is based at the CGE Head Office in Johannesburg.
Stipend: R8,500 per month

Requirements
Applicants must hold a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Social Sciences or another relevant Social Sciences discipline.
A valid driver’s licence is essential for this position. The successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as as part of a team.
The role may involve extensive travel throughout South Africa to conduct research activities, meaning applicants must be prepared to travel when required.
Additional requirements include:

- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- BA (Law)

Requirements
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7 in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or an equivalent qualification.
Candidates must have knowledge and understanding of relevant South African labour legislation. This includes the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Employment Equity Act (EEA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other relevant labour-related legislation and regulations.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7 in one of the following fields:
- Social Sciences
- Humanities
- Gender Studies
- Education
- An equivalent qualification
Candidates must have computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, together with digital communication skills.

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7, or an Honours or Master’s degree, in one of the following areas:

Important Information for All Applicants
Successful interns will be placed at the CGE Head Office in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, except for the Public Education & Information Internship Programme, which is indicated as being based in Pretoria.
Successful candidates will be responsible for arranging and paying for their own transport to the relevant office.
Each successful candidate will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with the Commission for Gender Equality for a period of 24 months.
Applicants should note that completion of the internship does not guarantee permanent employment. The CGE has specifically indicated that there will be no obligation to employ interns after completion of the programme.
Applicants with qualifications obtained outside South Africa must submit a SAQA evaluation report together with their application.
The Commission for Gender Equality also reserves the right not to appoint.
