The PG Bison invites interested and suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of SHEQ Officer to be based in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Position: SHEQ Officer
Department: Risk Department
Reporting to: Risk Manager
Location: Ugie NECF, Eastern Cape

Key Result Areas:
As member of the Risk Department, assist the Risk Manager to:
- Ensure compliance with the OHSA, NEMA and other related acts and regulations
- Implement and maintain health, safety and environmental policies and procedures in the workplace
- Provide guidance and informal training to management and employees
- Conduct SHE inspections and formal audits of forestry operations to identify and evaluate actual and potential areas of risk, risk exposure and non-conformance
- Drive continual improvement of the safety systems and safety culture
- Manage and maintain input of operational data on the Risk Software Platform
- Complete monthly administrative close off process
- Conduct incident investigations and compile incident investigation reports
- Facilitate central Health and Safety Committee meetings, compile agenda and minutes in conjunction with Chairperson
Minimum qualifications:
- National Diploma in Forestry / Diploma in a Risk/Safety related field
- Environmental Management Courses will be advantageous
Minimum experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar or related role in the commercial forestry industry
Recommended skills, knowledge and qualities:
- Ability to work on Microsoft packages, Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Data base systems
- Ability to work under pressure, to plan and to achieve objectives
- Good administrative skills
- Honesty and confidentiality
