POSITION: LOGISTICS SUPERVISOR (6 months fixed term position)
DIVISION: PLANT & ENGINEERING
LOCATION: VLAKFONTEIN MINE

Purpose
The logistics supervisor is responsible for the movement of and delivery of the product from
Vlakfontein Mine to the Power Stations, planning, oversight, management, and coordination of logistics support to ensure that the objectives of the organisation are achieved by following proper safety protocols and ensuring that all legal obligations and regulations are met. This role also entails coordinating, directing, and monitoring activities of, as well as communicating with employees, contractors and subcontractors who are involved in the execution of delivering the product to the Power Stations and other customers.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for all weighbridge operations.
  • Ensure that the weighbridge is maintained and calibrated according to OEM o requirements.
  • Ensure that daily reconciliations are conducted and any discrepancies are rectified.
  • Endure that all trucks used at Vlakfontein Mine comply to Eskom and Vlakfontein Mine requirements.
  • Organise and coordinate trucks for the transportation of coal.
  • Report any anomalies/errors to the weighbridge system to the appropriate people immediately.
  • Maintain relationships and deal with queries from customers and other stakeholders.
  • Track movement of the product from Vlakfontein Mine and the Power Station.
  • Ensure that all trucks are fitted with active and functional tracking devices to safeguard our product from site to customers.
  • Conduct regular route assessments.
  • Ensure that the transporters are aware of the risk of coal theft and product switch and mitigate the risk accordingly.
  • Ensure proper truck allocation to meet contractual obligations with regards to coal delivery.
  • Ensure truck drivers and truck owners are aware of site rules and distribute
    information and guidance accordingly.
  • Ensure that trucks have necessary paperwork for forward movements from the site to
    the Power Stations.
    Compile and submit daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports on sales volumes.
  • Ensure that all weighbridge staff are fully aware of their duties and receive the necessary training.
  • Manage the Weighbridge Staff annual and sick leave in line with company procedure.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, HR, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • National Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Weighbridge Operation in the coal mining industry.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Computer literacy and fluency in MS Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness.
